I moved here in 2023 after more than 20 years in Minnesota. Why Sun City Center? Mostly the arithmetic.
The newer 55+ communities around Tampa wanted $300 to $700 a month, often with a CDD fee on top. Sun City Center asked $346 a year for more than 100 clubs, three campuses, a Security Patrol, an Emergency Squad and Samaritan Services. I assumed it was a typo. It wasn’t. I bought.
I live here with my wife, Kim, and our two German Shepherds, Vuk and Kona, who have firm opinions about the mail carrier and none about board politics.
I’ve worked in marketing and sales since 1988, long enough to have built some of the first websites for American brands, back when most people thought the internet was a passing fad.
Since then I’ve run marketing departments and seven-figure budgets, launched software businesses on four continents, and led marketing and technology strategy for two billion-dollar companies. Today I help run a logistics company in the UK. I retire in 2027, so I’ll have the time this job deserves.
Caloosa Golf Club: board director and volunteer marketing director. I redesigned golfcaloosa.com in May and started the club’s first digital advertising. Site visits have more than doubled since, up 107%. If a Caloosa matter ever came before the CA Board, I’d say so and step out of the vote.
CA committees: I served on the Communications Committee and serve now on the Technology Committee.
The CA’s marketing plan: I was a lead author of the Association’s 2026–2028 Strategic Marketing Framework.
Free software for members: I wrote the Association’s application for Google’s nonprofit program: email, shared calendars, forms and club web pages, plus up to $120,000 a year in free advertising. The Board approved the key elements in April. I hope to help bring it to members next year at no added cost, which is my favorite price.
